Summer Prelude!

Well, Brady and I take off (literally) for Alaska tomorrow! We get into Anchorage at around 2:30, and the plan from there is to hitch hike to Cohoe (the fish site). I've only hitch hiked once before, and even that was just for a couple miles. This is a three hour drive - it should be good. :)

So, obviously I won't be able to write in digital form over the summer, but I'm bringing both my "collections" notebook and another composition notebook; I'll try my hand a journaling again, and hope for the best. There'll be lots to record, anyway.

I'm also bringing up a few books to read in the down time -

"In The Land of Invented Languages" - Arika Okront (see previous post)
"Tuesdays with Morrie" - Mitch Albom ...looks maybe a little melodramatic, but I'm optimistic. I like his writing style.
"Essays and Sketches of Mark Twain" - I was fortunate enough to discover this on our bookshelves after I read "Twain's Book for Bad Boys and Girls". It'll be both a thought provoking and hilarious read - he has essays on everything from human nature to going to the barber shop.

I also graciously received a few other goodies yesterday for graduation that I'm going to save for next fall. One is called "Doodle Book" (or something close to that). Some ingenious fellow sketches all these random scenes and gives you 'instructions' on how to colour the pages (yes, it's a colouring book :) ). For instance, the first page has two black and white butterflies, and the instructions say "Make these butterflies as colourful as possible". I've tried a bit of it before with Sammie, but now I have a whole book! Yata! (to pull a chinese expression).
The other is "It's Not Easy Being Green", a collection of quotes and songs from Jim Henson and his characters. Ernie, Kermit, all those good guys. Looking forward to it. :)

Well, I'll see you all the end of august! Peace. ^^
